Last night was another great night of music entertainement in the reality tv show world.
Week 7 of the mega tv hit Rockstar Supernova provided us with yet more suprising and interesting performances.
Back from their Vegas adventure as the potential future Supernova frontman/woman, the rockers hit the stage with strip down performances from our 8 remaining contestants.
The show started with Zayra Alvarez who after fighting for it, finally won the chance to perform her original song “Luvia De Mar”. Her much talked about previous interpretations took a side show last night as for the first time, she really did rise up to the occasion. She gave it everything and collected what she deserved. For once. Praises from the band. But Zayra is ‘not’ Supernova material. Not by a long shot! At least, she will have left us something worthy to remember her by.
The next performance was a Magni …ficient hit! The Iceman has amazing vocals. We can’t deny him that. His stage presence is noticeable, but he would have been a better contestant fit in last year’s Rockstar INXS competition than he is this year with Supernova.
Followed Patrice Pike with yet another boredom ville performance. You can’t critizise her vocals. She is technically solid. But also boring. Boring, boring. Sorry!
And then there was Lukas. Lukas Rossi the Canadian, controversial, spiked hair Lukas who week after week totally kills it! His rendition of “Hero – The Police” proved once again that he is the top contender for this gig. He has it all. The charisma, the stage presence, killer vocals (not to mention a killer smile for the ladies) and the rockstar attitude to go along with it.

Then came Storm Large with “Gloria Gaynor’s – I will survive”. Although I thought her performance was pretty amazing, considering, the band totally disliked it. But I wouldn’t worry about Storm. She is not going anywhere this week.
The Australian rocker in training Toby Rand who got naked to get the chance to play with Gilby Clarke did “Solisbury Hill – Peter Gabriel”. A ladies favorite, Toby did evrything but an amazing performance. So why did the judges like it so much? Because Gilby Clarke kicked butt with his guitar playing. Period!
Trying to stay out of the bottom 3 this week, Ryan Star did “In the air tonight – Phil Collins” and actually gave a very decent performance. Unfortunatly for him, Ryan lacks confidence and hasn’t really shown his true colors. If he has, the guy is a rainbow because he keeps switching it up, to a point where we don’t know who he really is.
The show ended with Dilana performing “Cats in the craddle – Harry Chapin”. Dilana is a strong, solid and great performer. Certainly the only female contender in this competition. But as much as I thought she was bigger than life when the show started this season, the less her star is shinning for me. Aside from her sneakiness, which has been portrayed on numerous occasions lately, she delivers what we expect from her. Nothing more, nothing less. So why is Supernova praising her so much? Because as I said, she is the only true female contender.
My prediction on who is going home tonight? – Patrice Pike.
