ROCKSTAR: SUPERNOVA Elimination show: week 7

Zayra goes home

An elimination night full of surprises?  No, not really!

The show started with the usual recaps of the previous night and showed 3 of the remaining men discussing Storm’s faith after her ‘Gloria Gaynor’ flop. That was a waste of conversation since we all knew Storm was “going to survive”, regarless.

The band announced that as of this week, one of the remaining contestant will perform one of their songs on stage with ‘them’ on elimination night. It was no big surprise that Dilana was the first one to hit the stage. But hold on. Wasn’t that the song they had all written lyrics too at the song writing clinic? Yeah, that’s the one.

If my memory serves me correctly, Tommy Lee hated Dilana’s writing skills that night – “cornball” was the term he used to describe them”. Oh well. Dilana is strikingly beautiful, with or without her facial jewelry and she sure knows how to sell herself to the band, on and off stage (remember Vegas baby). So since she is showing how much she wants this gig, it is only fitting she gets the first “girly song”. And ‘girly’ it was: accompanied by 4 women in skimpy outfits strutting their stuff on stage to a re-written song that sounding like anything ‘but’ what we expected from the re-invented Supernova band. Oh well….

The “Encore” went to Ryan Star. Why? How should I know! As a potential contender (and I use the term loosely) it was probably his week to get exposure. They all get turns right?

Bottom 3- Zayra : Razorblade
- Patrice: Celebrity Skin
- Magni: Creep (Creep? you gotta be kidding right?)
It is with no great surprise that Zayra was ‘let go’. Barely escaping the bottom 3 in the last few weeks, her luck turned after she performed her original song “Luvia De Mar” on the previous night. So the performance that became her swan dive was actually her best performance of the competition.

The only surprise from me wasn’t that Magni hit the bottom 3. Personally I thought his performance the night before was very ordinary. The surprise was that he chose “Creep” for his lifesaver performance.

After seeing Lukas Rossi’s rendition of “Creep” the week before (from which he got a well deserved and overdue ENCORE) the bar was high. And Magni the Magnificient did NOT surpass Lukas. Not by a long shot! Granted his performance was filled with emotion that obviously affected a teary Dilana (but then again, she cries almost every week).

The show’s finale is scheduled for September 13, 2006

More to come!
