“HAMMER TIME” for Dilana

Posted by tlrc on August 23, 2006

It was hammer time on Rockstar Supernova’s result show tonight.  But first, we were shown quick recaps of the previous night’s performances, with just the right dosage of what the producers want you to put in your little minds. You know, the kind of subliminal messages that infiltrates your subconscious and creates doubt. They’re very clever you know. But I digress again.Back at the Mansion, Dilana once again takes center stage and starts playing with her  “mansion mate’s” egos. To Ryan “You know Ryan? You would have been nothing tonight without that house bandSay what? No but what the f* is wrong with her these days? I used to love Dilana. Boy did she drop on my list of favorites. Her ego has gotten so big that it barely fits through the door. I could go on and on, but the thruth is, it got worst at each and everyone of her attempts to justify the unjustifiable. From “I apologize, I screwed up, but what can I say, I can’t lie” we heard it all. This whole hammering band versus princess Dilana saga became the center of the episode. No room for an “encore”.

“In the press, when you talk negatively about a someone or another person whether it is a member of your band or someone else out there in the public eye, there will be repercussions. No matter what – Jason Newsted -“In the press, when you talk negatively about a someone or another person whether it is a member of your band or someone else out there in the public eye, there will be repercussions. People that have watched Rockstar Supernova’s reality show this week  are all too familiar with these infamous moments between the press and Dilana. When asked to speak about her competitor “friends” , the girl who “just can’t imagine anyone else but her fronting this band” had a lot to say: none of it nice.

On a more positive note, we where treated to some great performances from both Supernova with it’s front man of the night the “thunder from down under” who managed to keep his shirt on”, as well as from tonight’s bottom 3 rockers. Toby did an amazing job with the band tonight. “Mighty fine job mate.” He really looked good and comfortable up there. But the focus once again turned to Dilana after a few more sequences are shown. Dave “what the hell are you thinking – I’m actually speechless”
Dilana “I’m too honest, I don’t know how to lie”

When Lukas was questioned on how he felt about all this, the Canadian Rockstar simply stated “I have to live with it. Literally”. Good on you Lukas. show her what class is all about!

First member to hit the bottom 3 tonight is Magni.

His performance of Jimmy Hendrix’s “Fire” was just that, fire! Really really cool arrangements. More modern than the original and totally Magni…ficient! The band loved it and the remaining rockers, including Lukas who rarely stretches for others , gave him a well deserved standing ovation.

Next was Patrice.

“Contender of the 4th time in a row in the bottom 3″ award, she performed a nice version of The Pretenders “Middle of the road”. It was pretty good actually. Unfortunately, just a little too little too late.

And the 3rd member of the list is: Toby

Toby once again gave an impressive performance with The Stone Temple Pilots rendition of “Plush”. Where was that guy hiding? I’m starting to like Toby: the one with the shirt on.

Patrice was ‘let go’ by Tommy-hawk who buried his head between his legs when he murmured in the mic “Sorry Patrice”, you’re the next to go.

Next week the 6 remaining rockers will perform songs voted by the public through Rockstar Supernova’s official website. On elimination night, another rocker will perform with Supernova and try to impress them and the public. Stay tuned!

ROCKSTAR SUPERNOVA ~ A magical night

Posted by tlrc on August 23, 2006

Week 8 performance show. This show is getting better and better every week!

The show starts with a recap of the rockers weekly activities: the usual song selection bit where a few of them pretend to fight over the ‘original’ songs. Two of them this week. No mention of the controversial meetings with the press. My guess is that they are keeping it for tomorrow. Oh and Dilana pulling a “Toby” by running around the pool naked. Been there done that!

We finally move on to the performances.

Patrice: “Original song – Beautiful thing”
Patrice was looking the best she ever has. Seemed in synch with her song and you should hope so, it ‘is’ her song in all sense of the word. A bit “too happy” for Supernova according to Tommy Lee who said they had the technology to make it darker. It was ok. But not enough to keep her around for another week.

Magni: “Smells like teen spirit” – Nirvana
I loved this side of Magni. Very cool performance. Clever use of his vocal range and very credible in his emotional rendition of this classic. Great energy. The bands suggested he should have played some guitar and then throw it, or break something. He promises to do that the following week. Too bad for him, the Dark Horse would run away with it.

Ryan: “Original song – Back of your car”
Ryan totally killed it. What an amazing song that was. The black horse can sure write a ringer. And yep, he throws his guitar off stage and blames it on getting laid. Oh those Rock stars!

Storm: “Crying” – Aerosmith
Stormy was simply stunning. And her performance of this other classic by Aerosmith totally rocked. I love that song. She switched it up a bit but kept a great balance between her and the original feel of the song. The manic-eyed beauty has spunk, just the right amount of attitude and great chops.

Dilana: “Every breath you take” – The Police
Another great performance night for Dilana. With a clean and crispy voice, Dilana did a very good ‘pop’ performance of a song she dedicated to her estranged mother.
Explaining the reason she ran around the pool naked to get the song, her pink false lashes batted to the beat of her heart while attempting to control her emotions. Sweet.
The guys loved her. I really wasn’t crazy about it because of the ‘pop’ feel to it she gave us again this week, but I can see where they are coming from.

Toby: “Layla” – Eric Clapton
Comes in Toby. The thunder from down under put it on overload and then strips for the ladies. I’m pretty the obvious attempt at winning some ladies votes worked.
He was all right. Not my cup of tea, except for the cute accent, but it didn’t blow me away.

And then there’s Lukas: “All of these things that I’ve done” – The Killers
Enters the chameleon clad in black – slick leather jacket, the now famous shades, neck adorned with a crucifix over a black shirt ready to cast a spell.

Mysterious, unpredictable, always a bit cocky, just enough, he delivers this song “that I honestly didn’t like before tonight” with such brilliance that you are almost blinded by his creative talent and flair for the dramatic and pure genius arrangements. The crowd goes wild. And so do the members of Supernova. Asked by Gilby “why do you turn your back to us so much?” Luke answered “You know what, I enjoy playing with the band too, like they are my band for 2 minutes and a half”

From now on I want to see you. Don’t worry; we’ll cover you back there.
These are your people” pointing at the audience.
As for Tommy Lee? – ”Check please”: We can wrap this thing and go home boys and girls.

Bottom 3 predictions? I have no idea. It’s getting hard at this point. Overall, everyone had a good performance tonight. Patrice for sure. Going home tomorrow. It’s her time now. At least she is leaving us on her best performance yet.
