Reality Show – Week 10
On the weekly recap
After the usual recap of the previous week, the reality show start with yet another dose of Dilana’s self-pity theatrics.
Dilana – “I would have like this so much more if I didn’t screw up my song. I hit a blank”
Lukas - “You’re only human man, you know?”
Dilana - “You did it on Celebrity Skin”
TLRC: oh please! Must you always point others fault to rise yourself above them?
A food fight and a dressed-up pool party followed the Dilana ‘moment’.
Well, most of them were fully clothed. Must be part of the weekly activity schedule.
The remaining rockers where then given the new Supernova track on which they would be doing this week’s –one on one- song clinic the following day. They all love the track and this one got a unanimous vote.
On the song writing clinicGilby Clarke’s comments on each rocker after their individual clinic:
Storm: Storm is always a pleasure to work with. She’s “extremely professional”Magni: I was disappointed with Magni’s song, I just didn’t think his lyrics where exciting. Magni is a confusing one for me. Is he a creative musician? I don’t know yet!
Lukas: I thought Lukas’s song was very good. Melodically, it was ‘excellent’. He didn’t take the generic route. He came in with a chorus and a verse knowing he could get by, but that is kind of irritating. I had to do more writing with Lukas’s that anybody else’s. Lukas’s competition is himself. I believe he feels that this is “his to loose”.
Toby: Toby comes in with a fresh new approach, he’s younger, he’s got a lot of energy and it’s an energy that we need. I thought that Toby’s contribution was the most ‘complete’.
Dilana: We don’t think her writing is where we were hoping it would be. So I was curious to see what she would be coming in with.Dilana’s writing was a little cliché. Although I thought today’s lyrics where her best that we have seen so far, I could have almost predicted what she was going to say in the song. When it gets down to putting this into words, doesn’t seem like she has a big imagination.
“Any artist who is going to have a successful career is writing his own songs. These five people have gotten this far because they are who they are. Now it’s really what are you going to bring to us. So if you’re not bringing anything, then what the hell do I need you for? – Gilby Clarke”
On the song selection
This week, each rocker will perform their own set. On top of choosing a song from the board they will also perform an original.
“In between songs, the Rock Star Stage will be yours to keep the audience interested and entertained. Make it count! – Supernova”
Dilana and Lukas are both focused on the same song: “Behind blue eyes”.
Lukas wants it because it’s a cool song, Dilana want it because “it is so fitting with what is going on in her life right now” (here we go again).
But then Magni plays with Lukas’s sensitive chord. The “I dare you” to take it chord. We all know that our boy Lukas strives for challenges. There is nothing he likes better than to take on a challenge in an attempt to surpass himself. It’s on baby! It’s on!

I have a feeling this is going to be the best show yet! The five of them ‘are’ fighting for their lives tomorrow night. The final 4 will be heading for the finale on September 13th, 2006.The wait is almost over. Unfortunately! My prediction? Lukas. Of course. But I think he will have Toby in tow and not Dilana. The Aussie mate remained true to himself. Funny, friendly and a good entertainer! The question remains: does his style really suit Supernova? No it doesn’t. But the ladies love him and he ‘his’ quite a cheerleader. Oups, I meant crowd leader….

Does anyone know how the elimination will go? They have 5 left, so I’m guessing 2 of the bottom 3 will go this week and pick one of 3 next,if not, they will have to pick one of 4 next week. Does anyone have a heads up?

It was confirmed by Brooke Burke that there will be no double elimination this week and that the 4 remaining rockers will go on to the finale.

Dilana being a bitch again. Does she never learn? Here is Lukas trying to be a friend and say some kind words to make her feel better, and she claws him in return. I can’t even stand to look at her anymore.
And she sucks at song writing too. Just sayin’.

Just a thought – what exactly has Gilby written himself of note? I don’t mean to knock him, just that I am not aware of any great songs he has had any hand in. So far, the Supernova tracks haven’t exactly knocked my socks off. Many of the rockers have written better lyrics than what I have heard from SN so far. Sorry to compare season to season – but as far as I am concerned – a critique of ones lyrical/melodic ability would mean (and meant) much more coming from someone like Andrew Farris with an established track record.
I am disappointed in Dilana I thought so much more of her earlier on. The rest of them? LOVE em all(but Lukas is my boy…)

tlrc connection didn’t post what original song Lukas is doing – every other one but that one – does anyone know what it is… extremely curious given I listen to all Cleavage and Rise Electric trax. Not sure if he is legally allowed to do something from Cleavage now that they are no longer together… any insight welcomed.

I’m sure it wouldn’t be much trickier getting the rights to do a Cleavage song than say… a Nirvana song.

I think Ryan said it best, some people can’t handle being in the top, they self destruct! I agree , therefore I dont think she should be rewarded with the opportunity to be on top….sorry Dilana might have been able to regain a footing with some if you would of just moved on……….people dont tune in to see “The Dilana Show and her Pity Wagon” we want to rock, to be entertained , to be moved. This show is unfortunately turning a lot of people off because they just dont want to see or hear her crass comments, droopy face, and want every song because it relates to her “issues’ ……Mark Burnett, please call her a waaambulance and get her off the show! I really believed that some of her original lyrics were viciously aimed at poor Lukas last night….jeez, tough bananas move on already

I would like to the people who has been supporting me and giving me the much needed encouragement to go on. Without you people nothing would have been possible. This competition has each of the rocker on the edge. It is a make or break situation. Everyone of us want it badly. Deep inside i believe i want it the most.

I find it quite interesting that none of the American born candidates are left.
Seems more like a “Canadian”, (i.e. multicultural) contest with reps. from Australia, Iceland, South Africa and of course, Canada.
My choice; for his suitability, depth, personal traits and conviction is Lukas. I would like Storm Large to return, she seems like a wonderful, funny, caring, intelligent person. I know her vocals are at times weak, but she is someone I would like to have on my team for all the above reasons.

i think lukas fits supernova more than the others. he’s so talented and dynamic vocally. he can sing songs in a unique way. but sumtimes he mumbles. but it can be corrected though. i hope he wins. the finale is tonight! sing well!

I reckon Dilana was so bitchy that time, i know most people are over it, but it sort of effected the whole show, and everyone will remeber “Dilanas Bitchieness” Shes a great singer, I love her to bits, but just when she was down and all, and she vocally was down too, she made a strong come back, But I think Lukas Is Awesome, I cant even start to explain, he has everything it takes to win, and will learn vocally and professionaly more, when he does win.. Toby Is to Plain.. I dont really “remember” any of his preformances, and Magni, Good Voice, Just not fit for the Band.
