The Lukas Rossi Connection

A fan editorial on Lukas Rossi, Supernova and Rock Star Supernova

CANADIAN LUKAS ROSSI IS “THE CHOSEN ONE” ON ROCKSTAR SUPERNOVA

Posted by tlrc on September 13, 2006

The winner was announced today after 11 weeks of intense competition for the position of lead singer for the newly formed rockband Supernova (Gilby Clarke – Gun’s & Roses, Jason Newsted – Metallica, Tommy Lee – Mötley Crüe).

Wrapping an evening filled with intense emotions and great performances from all finalist, Canadian rocker Lukas Rossi was finally “confirmed” as the lead singer of Supernova of the Rockstar Supernova CBS reality show.

This win marks the second year in a row that a Canadian hailing from Toronto is chosen for the lead singer role. We all remember last year when an emotion JD Fortune had made the headlines when declared “roit” for INXS. The band members of INXS had made a worldwide search for a lead singer to replace Michael Hutchence who had died 10 years before. So that is 2 for 2 for Canada! As a proud Canadian myself, I couldn’t be more happy that our amazing talent niche is finally exposed to the world and recognized.

Tonight’s win will certainly ignite the now famous conspiracy theory that surfaced on the web when Hollywood gossip columnist Janet Charlton put on her blog that she knew who the winner was. The truth is, Miss Charlton did not know this for a fact! She, like the rest of the people with any amount of flair for talent deducted that Lukas Rossi was not only the best but the only possible fit for Supernova.

He may have been compared as a combination of Jeff Buckley meets Freddie Mercury but Lukas is more than that. Lukas is simply unique. A mesmerizing performer that captures you by letting you see through his soul. Colorful and captivating, each of his performances is like him, unique. Sometimes flamboyant and theatrical, sometimes simply transparent with emotions. You love him or you hate him. But he never leaves you indifferent or unmoved. He deserves every praise Supernova has given him.

Now let’s take a look back at what happened tonight.

Surprisingly the show started with a recap of the season that grabbed about 20 minutes out of the 1 hour ‘short’ finale. It then cut to the performances of the final 3 rockers. Magni was no where to be seen, which confirms he was in last night’s bottom 2 as voted by the public and was first to be eliminated.

Toby Rand was the next to go home, leaving Dilana and Lukas to face the Tommy Hawk. After the band pretended to need a moment, for show, Lukas was finally rewarded for his indescribable talent by become the official lead singer of Supernova!

Stay tuned for more!

Hooray from Minnesota! Hail Canada!! The eyes are the windows to the soul and Lukas definitely has them and the soul! I don’t think that Tommy Hawk or the other SuperNova members will EVER doubt their choice! Can’t wait to hear their tunes!! :)

Oh my goodness. I was so nervous/exited the whole day today. I REALLY WANTED LUKAS TO WIN. &I watched as Magni and Toby got voted off, and when it was just Lukas and Dilana, I was holding my breath and thinking in my head about how much I wanted Lukas to win, because I voted a million times. Lukas had the HIGHEST NUMBER OF VOTES. He has good fans. And Supernova announced that Lukas was their lead singer, and I freaked out and cried. HAHA. I’m really exited and proud of him…wow

I was a loyal watcher to the show and Lukas was my favorite from day one. Misunderstanding what time the last show started, (I was having such a horrible day already) but I missed the last show. I was so thrilled to hear Lukas won! He’s got what it takes and I’m sure he’ll make us all proud.

Great result. Too bad the Global-TV feed was messed up and half the show was lost. I taped the CBS West Coast broadcast and the entire show was there — including Magni’s elimination.

Well, I am a proud as a peacock Canadian for the second year in a row. THAT rocked! What an amazing talent pool they had to choose from this year. I thought LAST year was amazing, but this years was tenfold better IMO! That made it interesting for me – last year there was only 1 who really mattered to me, who I would have been very unhappy had he not won. I also would have been VERY unhappy had Mr Casey NOT come in second because I loved him too – but this year. WHOA! While Mr Rossi was the only one who fit in all ways, for me, I found that half of the group were as talented as him, if not as compelling performance wise in this situation;in front of a band comprised of Tommy L, Jason N and Gilby C (you can read that as I was very UNHAPPY not to have seen Magni’s final performance last night because I LOVED him, too). Magni, Toby, Storm, Ryan, Josh – even Phil – I love all of them. Dilana is a remarkable talent, she is just not my cup of tea, but I will not take anything away from her obvious amazing stage presence and set of pipes.
What a fabulous show I am going to miss it so!

I am SO proud of LUKAS!

I’m so sad the show is over, but fantastically happy that Lukas won! I picked him from day one as my favorite and can’t wait to see him on stage!

YEAH LUKAS!!!! Canada rules apparently! LOL (I’m in Lakefield, Ontario).

I am another Lukas fan who would have been p.o’d if he didn’t win. My husband and I had him picked from the beginning. Unfortunately all Toronto tickets to see Supernova are sold out!!! I tried to buy some last night after it was confirmed that Lukas won.

Don’t tell my husband but Lukas makes me all schoolgirly inside. LOL. Tons of sex appeal. And a voice that knocks me on my patootie.

  9. I liked him for the start! He had the peronality which resonated with the Supernova group. Not only in appearence but also in performance. Good choice!

I’m so glad he won. I just adore him.

The contrast between the grit and gravel and that gorgeous falsetto is so intriguing and beautiful. And he certainly puts on a good show physically, too. The leaning, the bending, the jerks. I love a hardworking artist that crawls inside the song.

I too, like most Lukas fans, was holding my breath when it came down to him and Dilana. I knew she was a talented performer and the band liked her so I almost turned blue. Then they went to commercial, I nearly passed out. When they anounced he had won I nearly pissed myself (I had been holding it so I wouldn’t miss a thing). What I noticed was also interesting other than 2 Canadian winners is the fact that 2nd place both years was an American and 3rd was an Australian. So if they have another Rockstar show next just look for the most talented of those 3 nations and you’ll know who’ll be in the last three. I can’t wait to see them in Philly. It’s gonna rock!

Yo! gimmeasmoke skrock! lol Big Brian Brownstone from T.Dot. Congrats to the man. Lukas rocks. Ive been seeing Lukas perform for years with his band Cleavage. I knew something good would come out of their hard work. To the rest of the boys in Cleavage, he could’nt have done it without ya’s. Cant wait too see whats next for the boys in Supernova!CC’s cottage next year? many ribbons!!!!!lol

There was Jimi Hendrix> Elvis Presley> Michael Hutchence> John Lennon (any other super great outstanding “IT” musicians you may add.
Now I feel in every sense we have in our presence this Special Rockstar. Lukas Rossi is all of thatand this is just his beginnings. I for one can’t wait to enjoy this evolution from already being a Rockstar to his crowning of Superstardom with the above mentioned greats.

Yeah, yeah Lukas won. Give it a rest already. Geeze, you know, you people just don’t stop, do you? Lukas Rossi is the person to front this band, and they are done (At least for now). Lukas is now married, and on a solo career, so y’all can shut up about Rockstar Supernova, and the old foggies that are in it!
